We Uplift Youth, Women and Changemakers in Somalia

Uplift Somalia is a youth led, women centered non profit organisation dedicated to empowering the next generation of Somali leaders, creators and changemakers. We support youth, women, artists, advocates, changemakers and emerging leaders to learn, express, connect, collaborate, and create sustainable impact in their communitie

Through skills development, leadership training, creative and healing spaces, storytelling programs, mentorship, and community led initiatives, Uplift Somalia equips individuals with the practical tools, confidence, and opportunities needed to drive meaningful social change.

Our Background

Somalia is undergoing a period of transition where youth, women, artists, and changemakers are playing an essential role in rebuilding society despite facing unemployment, limited skills, social barriers, and a lack of supportive spaces. Many talented young people and emerging leaders remain unseen and unsupported, even though they continue to contribute through, advocacy, creativity, and community initiatives. After years of informal gatherings and conversations among young advocates and creatives, it became clear that Somalia lacks an environment that offers skills development, mentorship, storytelling platforms, recognition, and safe spaces for growth.

Uplift Somalia was created to bridge this gap, supporting youth and women with opportunities for learning, expression, leadership, connection, and visibility so they can strengthen their own futures and help drive a more inclusive and prosperous Somalia.
